A good selection of species here. Migrants included 3 Small Mottled Willow, 3 Rush Veneer and a few Rusty-dot Pearl. Locals included a Flame Carpet, Scorched Carpet and a very nice Wax Moth, although this last species may also have been a migrant.

. Jersey Tigers doing well with 6 this morning. It's the year of the Brimstone Moth with 21 in the trap the other day - only 16 today. A Galium Carpet, the first I have ever seen. Traps quite interesting with a few migrants/wanderers and some good resident stuff. Best were 2 each of Palpita vitrealis and Vestal plus a Channel Islands Pug. Only 16 species but using an actinic trap. Nice to get NFG Jersey tiger and NFY sallow kitten, iron prominent and gold spot. A cooler night and despite the lunar advantage an average catch with 26 spp of macro moth. Best today was an Olive (2nd ever here). Also, fourth Herald of the year...always a welcome sight...reminds me of my childhood growing up in Yorkshire. Of the micros, quercana continues to appear in steady numbers. |
