A cooler night and a clear sky resulted in thirty three species. Three Scarce Bordered Straw and a single Rusty Dot Pearl were the only immigrants. Among the rest were: another in a good recent series of Orange Swift, presumably a second generation Pinion-streaked Snout, a seemingly second generation Lychnis, plus Ringed China-mark and Nephopterix angustella among the very few micros.

Another good night for numbers, and 45 species. Immigrants represented only by Rusty-dot Pearl, Dark Sword-grass and Rush Veneer. Among the rest were White Plume, Orange Swift, Copper Underwing agg. Gold Spot, Canary-shouldered Thorn, Dusky Thorn, plus Four-spotted Footman, Brown China-mark and Ringed China-mark.

293 individuals of 51 species (including 120 Large Yellow Underwings). A good night for migrants with FFG (and new for this observer) Palpita vitrealis, FFY White-speck and Scarce Bordered Straw (also with a deep red fringe: however given its companions it's likely to be a migrant), as well as Rusty-dot Pearl, Rush Veneer, Silver Y and Dark Sword-grass.
Also FFY Pale Eggar, Rosy Rustic and Square-spot Rustic.

Reduced numbers, with 59 species. Highlights were Cochylimorpha straminea, Udea ferrugalis (6), Nomophila noctuella (2), Maiden's Blush, Galium Carpet, Sallow Kitten, Jersey Tiger, Four-spotted Footman (male and female), Silver Y (2), Bordered Straw, Marbled Green (2), Turnip Moth & Dark Sword-grass. A full moon seemed to reduce the numbers, and still very few immigrants: singles of Dark Sword-grass and Silver Y, and two Rusty-dot Pearl the sum total. Among the others were Ruby Tiger, Flounced Rustic, Cloaked Minor and Least Yellow Underwing (a notable species here), plus Small Rivulet, Dark Spectacle, Dusky Thorn and Yellow-tail. Micros also not numerous with Euzophera pinguis, Pyrausta aurata and Carcina quercana probably worth a mention.

Highlights were Nemapogon clematella, Argyresthia bonnetella, Bryotropha domestica, Eulamprotes atrella, Tachystola acroxantha (when I first arrived in Portesham, I didn't see this species for a couple years, but now it seems to be fairly frequent), Spilonota laricana, Cydia fagiglandana, Udea ferrugalis (4), Nomophila noctuella (3), Pebble Hook-tip, Yellow-barred Brindle, Purple Bar, Small Phoenix, Canary-shouldered Thorn, Sallow Kitten, Jersey Tiger (2), Four-spotted Footman (2), Silver Y (7), Gold Spot, Marbled Green, & Dark Sword-grass (2). 58 species including 1 Diamond-back, 1 Rush Veneer, 3 Rusty-dot Pearl and 4 Silver Y. FFY Flounced Rustic and Six-striped Rustic. 2 Twin-spotted Wainscot were a surprise although there is lots of reed in the area - this is only the second time I've caught this moth here. Another typical summer range of 40 species including: Rusty-dot Pearl, Silver Y f. gammina and Dark Sword-grass representing the few immigrants, and Amblyptilia acanthadactyla, the tongue twisting Pseudargyrotoza conwagana, Engrailed, Rosy Rustic, and Coronet f.coronula, and plenty of quite striking Eudonia mercurella.
