On 18 October, I trapped for just a couple of hours from dusk at The Downs, just to the south-west of Peveril Point in Swanage and caught the following residents (selective sp.):
Black Rustic (1), Feathered Ranunculus (4), Brick (1), Large Wainscot (1), T. acroxantha (1); and the following migrants: Purple Marbled (1, photos attached), RDPearl (2) and singles of DSGrass and Diamond-back.

The emphasis very much on the migrants in the traps today, with a quite splendid haul. Cosmopolitan, Convolvulus Hawk-moth, Small Mottled Willow, Gem, 3 Scarce Bordered Straw, 6 Vestal, 4 Delicate, 3 Palpita vitrealis, 3 Pearly Underwing, 4 Silver Y and 5 Udea ferrugalis. An overnight temperature of 16 deg C produced a decent selection of 36 species including: two each of Scarce Bordered Straw, Pearly Underwing, and Silver Y plus 4 Udea ferrugalis and a Rush Veneer representing the migrants. Best of rest were Clancy's Rustic, Merveille du Jour, Large Wainscot, Barred Sallow, 2 Pinion-streaked Snout, Cypress Pug, Garden Carpet, Dark Spectacle, White Point, Green-brindled Crescent, Turnip, Red-line Quaker, Frosted Orange and finally a Red Admiral!
Also a rather late Paraswammerdamia albicapitella.

Have not posted here for a while, as not much trapping or records of any note. However, I did have two Clifden Nonpareil in the MV trap on Friday (29th) night, despite the heavy downpours. One was very worn, but the other almost pristine. This species has now made an appearance every year since 2011 and is clearly established in the area and is more common (at my garden trap) than Red Underwing!
