16/10: Scarce Bordered Straw, Vestal, Delicate, Palpita vitrealis, Clancy's Rustic (5), Rush Veneer (3), Red-green Carpet, Barred Sallow (2), Caloptilia rufipennella, Caloptilia semifascia (2), also late records of Mother of Pearl and Zelleria hepariella, the last species presumably tempted out of hibernation.

Another still, warm night with some rain.  Another good night for migrants: 1 Diamond-back, 2 Rusty-dot Pearl, 2 Palpita vitrealis, 2 Vestal, 1 Delicate, 1 Dark Sword-grass, 1 Scarce Bordered Straw and 1 Silver Y.  FFY Dotted Chestnut (a very uncommon moth here).  Also 2 Clifden Nonpareil.

Nice Oak Rustic...first ever here; 4 Palpita vitrealis, 3 Silver Y, a Feathered Thorn and L-album...otherwise none of the colourful autumnal spp which graced the trap a week or so ago. Plenty Black Rustics, Turnips, RLQs and yellow underwings still.

Still and warm with a little rain.  31 species.  An interesting night for migrants: 1 Rusty-dot Pearl, 2 Palpita vitrealis, 2 Vestal, 1 White-speck and 1 Silver Y.  FFG Dark Chestnut and FFY Flounced Chestnut (the first one in years).  Also 2 Clifden Nonpareil.  And 164 Large Yellow Underwing in two traps!  Also a second generation Yellow-tail.

This week
An interesting week here at Hurn. Migrants included Vestal, Clancy's Rustic, Four-spotted Footman, Delicate, Dark Sword Grass, White-point and Silver Y. Also had 2 Banded Pine Carpet, Southern Chestnut and plenty of Turnips. Also, unusually for here, this morning there were 7 Flounced Chestnut in the trap. Usually only get one or two every other year.

Edit as found another 3 moths in the egg trays when sorting them out for trapping with the 20W actinic tonight Another Shuttled-shaped Dart and Lesser Yellow Underwing along with a Red-line Quaker

Thursday night 11th October.
Winterborne Stickland. A good selection given the weather conditions- 19 species of macro including 1 Delicate, 2 White-point, 4 Barred Swallow, 1 Yellow- line Quaker, 2 Chestnut and a rather surprising garden- tick in the form of a Blair's Wainscot (which was sitting by the trap at 22.30)- I'd love to know where that came from... Ran my MV50 W Robinson trap last night for the Garden Moth Scheme, only caught 11 moths,3 Willow Beauty, Square-spot Rustic, Large Yellow Underwing-3,a Lesser Yellow Underwing, a worn Common Marbled Carpet . An amazing night here, the best for ages with two new garden macros: Golden Twin-spot and Brindled Ochre. An excellent back-up cast including 4 Clancy's Rustic, Brindled Green, Feathered Brindle, Large Wainscot (2), Sallow (2), Swallowtail, Smoky Wainscot, Pinion-streaked Snout (2), Red Underwing, Wax Moth and Mecyna asinalis. Also a very high count of 76 Lunar Underwing.

Best here was the second Clifden Nonpareil of the year. Best of rest were Clancy's Rustic and an exceptional count (for here at least) of 65 Lunar Underwing.
