Ideal conditions and my best night this year.  54 species including lots of FFYs: N. metazella, C. lacunana, N. trimaculana, Ringed China-mark, Sandy Carpet, May Highflyer, Brussels Lace, Willow Beauty, Lime Hawkmoth, Lychnis and Straw Dot.

Run the 20W actinic again had a good night with FFY Poplar-hawk Moth x 2, Iron Prominent, Orange Footman, Dark Arches, the best of 14 moths.

Friday 24th May A Diamond-backed Moth,Heart & Darts,Vine's Rustic,Treble Lines,Common Marbled Carpet,Garden Carpet,Shuttle-shaped Dart x2, Double striped Pug,and the best were Treble Brown Spot, Bright-line Brown eye, Archips podana (Large Fruit-tree Tortrix) and a Peppered Moth

Lankham Bottom 23rd May
Plentiful numbers of Wood Tiger and Cinnabar Moths seen today at Lankham Bottom B.C. Reserve, near Maiden Newton. Generally spread throughout the site and a great sight to see as well as the butterflies.

Numbers still low but quite a few new for year: White Point, Marbled Minor (agg), Yellow-barred Brindle, Common Pug (3), Mottled Pug (2), Scalloped Hazel, Poplar Grey, Maiden's Blush, Willow Beauty, Treble Lines, White Ermine (2), Epinotia immundana, Celypha lacunana, Cochylis atricapitana (photo). Highlights.
12/5. UV Broadstone garden. Still poor due to cold conditions? highlights: Pale tussock, Brimstone, Treble lines (NFY), Early grey, Heart 7 Dart (NFY) and Cockchaffers are back (18 in all). 12/5. Ballard down. 2 Mother shipton, Common carpet, Red twin spot carpet. All by day. 15/5. Ovens Heath. Latticed heath 3, Common heath 2, lackey caterpillar & 4 male Emperor moth (attracted to pheromone lure set up by member of public). All seen during 'Back from the brink' survey for Heath Tiger beetle (2 seen).

Portesham 11th-13th May
Cold conditions meant trapping has been off for me having returned for the weekend. I've been out to Hardys Monument and in the nearby fields after dinner, and this has produced Coptotriche marginea, Luffia ferchaultella (larval cases), Monopis laevigella, Aspilapteryx tringipennella, Paraswammerdamia albicapitella (larvae), Glyphipterix simpliciella, Elachista argentella, Neofaculta ericetella, Coleophora laricella (larval feeding signs), Esperia sulphurella, Pseudargyrotoza conwagana, Rhopobota myrtillana, Scoparia pyralella, Lackey (larvae), Common Footman (larvae), and Speckled Yellow. All adults unless stated otherwise.
