Worth checking out lichen/algae covered tree trunks for the distinctive elongated cigar-shaped larval cases of Taleporia tubulosa. A winter walk revealed about a dozen on Beech trunks near Lyme Regis. It's a well distributed species so a good chance of finding them . The ones I found were all under a meter from the ground and all were empty although some had remains of the pupal case inside. They are triangular in construction and remarkably tough, very smooth inside and finely granular on the exterior.

Possibly the first moth of the year? A Winter Moth trapped last night by Bagsy in East Dorset. More of the same to follow at https://bagsy-thecaptainslog.blogspot.com/
