Davey, P., 2009: A species that is restricted to upland areas in western and northern Britain, the larva feeding on the roots and stem bases of grasses such as small reed (Calamagrostis spp.), cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata) and purple moor-grass (Molinea caerulea). The adult flies in August and September. In Dorset, there is just one single record. On the capture date, a warm south-west to westerly airflow was established, and it is likely this individual originated from upland grassland habitat in Devon: Broadwey, 9 August 2010 (P Harris).
