Davey, P., 2009: A widespread species in Britain, the larva feeding on ash (Fraxinus excelsior). In Dorset, the moth is frequent in woodland on chalky soils where ash is dominant, and at low density in open habitat where ash trees are more isolated, for example in hedgerows. The moth is seldom seen in localities where ash is absent, for example just sixteen examples were recorded at Arne in more than twenty years of trapping.
